ALCEST - Souvenirs D’un Autre Monde

I have no idea why I haven’t blogged about this album before. I’ve recommended it to so many people over the years, so it only makes sense for me to finally give it a well-deserved shout out via Tumblr!

Despite its undoubtable brilliance, there’s not much that I can say about Souvenirs D’un Autre Monde, apart from the fact that it is simply beautiful and breathtaking. This album opened my eyes to a completely different side of shoegaze music and I fell completely in love with Neige’s work. Neige is well known for his black metal work, most notably in the bands Peste Noire and Forgotten Woods, but through Alcest he shows how far his musical talents stretch, creating fantastically captivating and beautiful melodies, both beautiful and uplifting yet dark and melancholic.
